British Navy runs on Windows

British Royal Navy has developed a modified version of Windows XP, which was started to install in its fleet of nuclear submarines, reported the media.

As one of the main reasons for the introduction of Windows in the Navy are listed simpler and cheaper maintenance in relation to the various versions of Linux, and especially the developed application systems.

Specifically, in order to reduce the costs, Britain's navy is trying to use as many commercially available solutions and intends to use Windows to save 32 million dollars in the next 10 years.

When it comes to Windows security, representatives of company Bae Systems saying they were removed or modified all parts that were prone to security omissions so that minimized the possibility of unauthorized intrusions into the system.
