In the rocky parts of Oman scientists found evidence that living organisms on Earth existed before 635 million years ago.

Scientists from California University have published in the journal Nature results of study in which they found the remains of organisms who lived in the area of the present Oman before 635 million years ago.

This discovery disproved claims about how the first organisms appeared on Earth after the Ice Age.

Found remains of organisms show that life on Earth existed long before Ice Age. However, scientists claim that in the time of Ice Age ice had major impact only on surface but those organisms which are found are believed they lived in the sea, below the frozen surface.

The remains of discovered organisms shows that they belong to organisms that have allegedly been forerunner of the today's sponges.

Scientists even believe that those organisms are not first which appeared on Earth.

"Based on the data that we have discovered about this organisms, it is obvious that sponges were very important to the seabed due to ecological development needs", said Mr Gordon Love, scientist from California University, head of the Oman expedition.
