This incredible story comes from Mozambique, Africa, where the rats are used to detect unexploded land mines.
It sounds unusual when you hear that rats can be used to detect land mines. At the first, this idea about using rats to sniff out land mines was mocked, but now they're part of serious land mines detecting squad in a few African countries.
Another weird use of rats has been recorded in Tanzania where the rats are used to help in diagnosing tuberculosis. Some reports said that there are more than 300 cases of tuberculosis that have been diagnosed by help of rats.
Those rats are trained to scratch when they sniff a smell of land mines or tuberculosis disease. When they start scratching, they get rewarded by their handlers with fresh fruit or some other food.
